All About Notebooks take on the Toshiba Satellite R15-S822
Antonella at All About Notebooks has just posted an in-depth guide and review to the Toshiba Satellite R15-S822 and apparently it “is not your typical tablet PC” as it has a larger screen and weighs more than a standard tablet PC. Comparing it to the Toshiba Portégé M205-S809, Antonella thinks the big screen is great for excel spreadsheets and due to the brightness of the screen “[makes] for an enjoyable movie-watching experience” and at 6.1 pounds “is more likely to be on your lap or on your desk than in your arms.”
Antonella finds it slightly odd that the R15 is concerned with sound, as it has an integrated Analog Devices audio chip, SRS and uses Trusurround XT technology “that make the tablet’s tiny speakers sound larger and more powerful”. Even when the speakers are partially covered “the sound is surprisingly good once you get the hang of the SRS adjustments” and the array microphone is “almost as good as a dedicated mike”
Antonella concludes by stating that the R15-S822 is a notebook first with good speakers and a built in DVD/RW combo drive, “though we’d prefer a DVD burner”. Head over to All About Notebooks for the full review.
