Whilst celebrating the exciting news of the imminent arrival of their third child, Joshua Luna and wife are looking at practicalities and have found that rather than poping upstairs to use the computer, it would be easier for Mrs Luna to use a laptop for work. Not knowing exactly what to look for, Joshua Luna has asked for advice from the B3D forum about the best deal.
The laptop will be mainly for updating and looking at websites and will be largely used at so portability and battery life isn’t an issue. Home however, they would like something with the usual WiFi and maybe a widescreen and DVD-RW if possible.
If you’re after WiFi, a clear and bright screen and a DVD/multimedia fiend, robcali3672 of Deals Plus thinks that the Satellite A135 is right up your street! Thinking of it as ‘value priced with technology you’ll value’, its obvious that robcali3672 rates the technology just as highly as it’s ’sleek and lean’ design. A widescreen display with TruBrite® technology guarentees superb screen quality and Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor shows that anyone after a laptop for general browsing and light office work would be mad to miss out on this neat notebook

Doing a colleague a favour right now is Jeff who, finding his mate in need of a laptop, has asked for some advice from the forum members of Notebook forums in regards to what to buy.
Listing fairly regular specifications such as a 15″ screen, the capability of light gaming and decent portability options has left Jeff with a lot of scope for possible options, so buyer reviews are really important in helping to decide.
Offering a collection of consumer reviews about the excellent Satellite A135 is Tech Gadget Blog. With specs matching Jeff’s exactly and reviews ranging from ‘An exceptional tool for my needs ‘ to ‘recommend to anyone’, the A135 sounds not only great for Jeff’s mate but for all!

Marcin541, whilst looking for a new laptop for work, has asked for suggestions and advice from testmy.net forum members.
Marcin541’s new notebook needs to be lightweight and cheap, with a wireless card and 512Mb RAM/40+ Gb hard drive so disturbed has suggested the Toshiba A135 as a contender.
In light of curcuitcity.com’s Toshiba A135 review, it’s not surprising the A135 has been recommended. It boasts a sharp 15″ display and a hard drive that’s more than big enough for the average user, all in an impressively lightweight 6 pound package!

kflorida4 is trying to choose between two different Toshiba A135 models and has asked for help from the Notebook Review Forum in order to decide.
Other forum members have discussed how both deals are excellent and fit kflorida4’s criteria. Most find it hard to chose between the two, and suggest that the best basis for the final decision is personal preference. If you have an opinion or experience of either of the two models and would like to help kflorida4 choose, follow the link to the forum here!

Eric I Arnoth quite likes his new Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 but nothing in life is perfect and he’s written an article on his blog describing a problem he’s been having with with the notebook.
Eric’s dualbooted his new notebook with Ubuntu and Windows and has found the installation and setup process relatively painless. Unfortunately, 30 days after purchase, the LCD backlight malfunctioned. Eric had no problems obtaining a replacement but now the new machine seems to be exhibiting similar symptoms (screen flicker when the lid is opened) to the original just before the LCD problem occured.
Eric is now beginning to wonder if this is a flaw of the model so we have been searching for evidence of this. It seems unlikely, but Eric is unlikely to be reassured until the screen flicker (which only occurs in Windows) is explained . If you can explain the flicker or can throw any light on its cause, follow this link to view the full article.

Silwenae is installing Foresight Linux (a GNOME-centric linux distro) on his newly-acquired Toshiba A135 and he’s documenting the process on his blog, silwenae.org.
Although the major issues that he faced during the install process (concerning wired ethernet and sound settings) were all solved by a sudo conary updateall, the install was non-trivial and his blog post is a useful (even vital) read for anyone who wants to get Foresight up and running on a Toshiba notebook. Mattdinihas posed an interesting question on Ask Metafilter. He asked whether Windows Vista and XP Pro can be dual booted if they are installed on separate hard drives.
Mattdini recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487 which came with two hard drives and Vista home included. Although he doesn’t wish to get rid of Vista, he wants to install and use XP as well. Can he install Vista on the second hard drive and use the BIOS set up to switch between the two?
Disillusioned is apparently already doing this and others agree that it is possible, so if you want to read more about how this is done or share your experiences, follow this link to the forum.
