It’s been hinted at for some while, but according to the UK consumer organisation Which? – Toshiba officially provide the most reliable laptops in the UK!
Alongside Sony at the top of the tree, 93 per cent of Toshiba owning Which? members surveyed said their laptop had never needed repair. Fujitsu-Siemens got 91 per cent, and Apple and Dell scored 87 per cent. Next were Acer and HP with 84 per cent, and the average score was 87 per cent.
The survey is based on answers from 7,919 Which? members, and also found that the average price of laptops is still falling - from £900 in 2006, £800 in 2007 to £750 in 2008, and Apple came top in terms of customer staisfaction. Half of those questioned got their machines from retailers and 84 per cent put John Lewis top of the satisfaction league, while PC World scored just 45 per cent.
Reason enough for a celebration I wager!

Doug Goldring, over at Gear Diary, brings us his detailed thoughts on the Qosmio G40, and reckons it is possibly as far from the MacBook Air as is humanly possible. Yes, it’s a behemoth, he says, but it is so usable that he doesn’t care.
From the start-up to the battery life, Doug says this is ‘better, stronger and faster than any laptop [he] had used before’. High praise indeed, especially from a user who already is a Toshiba convert. There is a full run down of everything that the laptop is capable of, including the entire box contents, both exhaustive and informative. Doug goes on to draw a distinction between portability (devices that can travel with you, but not use) and mobility (devices that use can use as you travel). The Qosmio – or Bionic Computer as he has nicknamed it – definitely falls into the former category, making it a ‘true portable computer’.
So, it’s clear that Doug loves his Qosmio, but do you love your laptop? If yours is currently experiencing technical difficulties (i.e. is bust) drop us a line and we’ll add you to our trialist database, meaning you get a few weeks with one of these beauties.

Student Pheonix has put out an appeal on his WordPress blog for any information about what laptop he should buy for his next few years of study.
As he uses programmes like Microsoft Word and PowerPoint most of the time for school work, he really wants something simple that runs those programmes, but every hard worker needs a break so he is also after something that can sustain games such as Diablo and World of Warcraft.
Looking at the selection of ‘Best laptops of 2007′ on the Laptop Notebook blog spot, the Toshiba Satellite A130 not only features highly but seems to offer everything Pheonix would need with Core 2 Duo processor, Vista, a 15″ display and lightweight design for easy portability into college as well as all the features needed to run homework and games programmes all at a low price, this is one for students to check out.
