The world and his dog are attempting (or pretending at least) to go green at the moment, and for companies across the world, there is an entire dictionary of popular eco-related buzzwords that must be adhered too.
However, according to those over at gadgettell.com, “Toshiba are taking a different approach”, and are aiming to recycle 12 million pounds of electronics in the US by 2010. Agreeing to recycle any kind of e-waste, “Toshiba will accept any sort of electronics from cell phones to computer to video game systems, all without having to buy a single thing” – unlike Dell, who only deal with Dell branded items.
Even better in these dark days of economic decline, “Toshiba will even pay you for recycling as a trade-in (which, admittedly Best Buy has offered before). For example, my two year old MacBook Pro would get me $325, and a $25 Starbucks gift card. Not bad” says the correspondent “if I wanted to get rid of my computer.”

Finding that his old Dell keeps getting too hot and shutting itself down, Dimitris has begun the search for a new, ice cool laptop by asking for advice from the Head-Fi forums. His required programmes include Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Lightroom and he is also after 2GB of RAM - all wrapped up in a 15″ screen package. As he intends to use it mainly at home, size isn’t an issue, however budget is.
If your looking for more power and impressive tech for your money then the Satellite A200 is certainly worth a look, according to review site cheap laptops. Listing all the laptop’s specs in an easy-to-understand way, the review leaves no room for misunderstanding. With features such as 2GB RAM, Vista, Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 Processor and 128MB Intel UMA Shared Graphics all for a tiny price this is something Dimitris should really check out!

Icarus of the Calgarypuck forum is asking advice in relation to adapters.
Unfortunately, the Toshiba laptop AC adaptor that he was supplied with malfunctioned and he was wondering if, in the short term, it would be ok to use a Dell AC adapter with a slightly lower output.
Other members of the forum think that, with the power output being similar, there won’t be a problem. It’s notable that quite a few of Icarus’s advisors are quite keen not to take responsibility if everything goes horribly wrong.
Using random adapters is the sort of thing that leads to invalidated warranties, so we don’t think it’s worth the risk when Toshiba websites stock a multitude of replacements.
If you have an opinion on the matter and can give Icarus unambiguous advice then follow this link the Calgarypuck forum now!
