OK – so the Games Convention in Leipzig is fully underway, and as computer fans descend upon Germany in their masses, it’s time to take a look at what delights are emerging. Expectations of mindblowing technology and gaming revelations are high, and while farplaner is enthralled about what Pro Evolution Soccer has to offer in 2009, twobrothersandasister are discovering new delights with Mad World on the Nintendo Wii.
And it’s exciting news for Toshiba too, who will be showcasing the powerful new Qosmio X300 gaming laptop (pictured), featuring the latest Intel® Core™2 Extreme QX9300 quad-core processor technology together with the new Gaming X20 optical laser mouse. For more information, the notebook is given a good going-over spec wise by both Crave and Pocket Lint who say this notebook offers a “sleek design aimed at gamers”.
Elsewhere, marketnews blog suggests that “Gamers will likely gravitate toward something like the Toshiba Qosmio X300 that can serve as the device for “fun” time as well as when it’s down to business” and invoid.org agrees, claiming the X300 is “built for gaming purists”. It’s due to be released in Europe towards the tail end of 2008, but for those who can’t wait that long – it can be seen at Toshiba booth B02, Hall 4, at the show, from 20th to 24th August 2008.
Everyone appreciates it when ones laptop can cope with the rigours of daily life and run all the programmes you can possibly open – and it seems that the reliable Toshiba Satellite A200 is working rather impressively. Does anyone remember when joby866 slipped out his high powered Toshiba Satellite A200, and proceeded to open every single programme that he has installed? If you don’t, take a look at this post.
Quite an impressive feat indeed, and if were more proof were needed, calvin f14 was so impressed with the slick way that his Toshiba A200 runs popular game ‘Age of Conan’ he has posted a brief video up on YouTube to illustrate his character “running smooth on a Toshiba laptop”.
So admittedly all the tip-top tech blogs have been touting news of the Toshiba Qosmio G55 over the last couple of months, talking about its advanced gesture controls which rely on its use of the PS3’s Cell processor tech, but now it’s official.
All across Social Media, blogs are touting the now official press release, available with more info over on this ‘Explore the Qosmio page’ – and some very excitable types are touting the new Qosmio as a machine that is liable to be very well received. “The Toshiba G55 is the machine I like best with it’s and get this 18.4-inch screen, yes I said a whopping 18.4-inch screen and it is the world’s first to pack the Cell-based SpursEngine, which Toshiba is re-christening the Quad Core HD processor” – say cheaplaptops.org.uk, while Gizmodo report the facts behind the machine.
Steve from Machines That Go Bing has posted an in-depth review of the Toshiba Qosmio G40, testing to see how it “stacks up as a games machine as will as a media box.” He first gives an overview of the G40 specs, writing that he suspects “the 250GB hard disk will fill up very quickly”, after which he gives his first impression of the notebook.
Though Steve finds the lack of numeric keypad an annoyance and dislikes that the blue lights remain on when watching a DVD (he likes watching films in the dark for a bit of atmosphere), he finds the G40 is great for game playing; at lower resolutions, the frame rate “rarely fell below 60 fps even with full shadow complexity, filtering and textures.” He also thinks the sound is “fantastic” and the 17” display is great for playing movies and games.
Steve sums up by saying that he thinks it’s a little heavy to be very portable, but it’s great to move around the house and garden and the ideal use of the notebook “would probably be for a child’s bedroom or a parent’s study”, after which he offers a full listing of the Qosmio G40’s specifications. Read the full review at Machines That Go Bing.
The Gadgetress reports that the inclusion of the new Intel Penryn processor makes the Satellite X205 perfect for gaming sessions. The latest chip generates less heat than predecessors and has a faster CPU processor, facilitating long periods of gameplay, which is traditionally heavily graphically-biased.
Penryn, for those that are interested, is named after a couple of things. It is a type of granite – presumably to project images of a hard-working, durable, tough cookie – and a place in California which probably has some significance to the engineer or designer.
So if there are any gamers out there who are hacked off with the way their current machine constantly freezes at the climactic moment of their favourite game, drop us a line and if your plight makes our hearts bleed, we might just lend you a Satellite for a bit.
cloudiax is in an urgent rush to leave the country but, rather than starting to search for a new laptop a while ago he has, as so many of us do, left it to the last minute! So in order to minimise his search time and improve his efficency he has asked for advice from Notebook review forum members.
With requirements such as a 17″ screen, a high quality gaming and mulitmedia machine, something with at least 2GB of RAM and that he can use as a desktop replacement and carry round with him, there is one choice that stands out from the rest, the Satellite X205!
The latest enthusiast of the already popular gaming laptop is boot daily review site which claims that the X205s NVIDIA’s GeForce 8700M GT GPU enables the satellite to ‘deliver revolutionary visual and particle effects as well as vibrant lighting and shading in today’s hottest games’, definately attracting any discerning gamer. Also boasting four built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers to deliver amazing sound, a ‘crisp, clear’ 17″ display, six USB 2.0 ports to name but a few features, it’s little wonder the X205 is getting a lot of attention!
gamingguitardude is currently living up to his name and looking for a decent gaming laptop, so he has turned to the trusty Notebookreview forum guys for help!
He doesn’t really have the budget to expect the best graphic card, but he would like something good enough to allow him to surf the net, do school work and use as a general multimedia machine.
Supplying ‘good gaming at an affordable price’ is the Satellite P105 which, according to the laptop-computer review site has everything gamingguitardude would want. Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, NVIDIA 7900 graphics card and an ultraportable design all combine to make the P105 the best choice for any multimedia fanatics on a budget.
Latest person to join the elusive search for the ‘Cheap gaming laptop’ is Andy111 who, in order to wittle down his search, has turned to Notebook forums for advice!
As he’s on a budget, Andy111 has said it doesn’t have to be able to handle very intense graphic games, just games such as World of Warcraft, and he would also like a 17″ screen.
Despite Andy111’s worry about buying a decent gaming machine on a modest budget, he could certainly afford a Satellite X205 which is part of Toshiba’s award-winning DirectX® 10! It has been widely celebrated as a gaming machine that’s hard to rival and a review on EON Buiness wire website praises its NVIDIA’s GeForce® 8700M GT graphics2 processing unit (GPU), 17″ TruBrite® display and Massive dual hard disk drives.
Student lifeundetermined is looking for the much sort-after thing of a laptop that will combine general usage and school work programmes with lots of gaming for a releatively small price. Finding his search particularly hard, he has asked for some advice from the neoseeker forums to give his ideas a boost.
Finding little direction through the forum, purhaps lifeundetermined should check out this review of the Satellite P105 on the PCMag.com review site to help give him something to think about. Using the impressive GeForce Go 7900 GS 3D graphics chip in conjunction with a 17” TruBrite screen to cater for the gaming market as well as having Harman Kardon speakers and 1GB of RAM for more practical, work related matters the P105 sounds just right for work and play!
As the nights draw in now is the time to resort to ultra cool technology to amuse yourself through the winter months. Following this train of thought is Devon has started to save for a new laptop but hasn’t a clue what to get, so he’s asking readers of his ‘Reviews and random things’ blog for help.
Looking around at Alienware products but hoping for something with a less worrying price tag, Devon is interested in a decent laptop that can run favourite games such as Counter-Strike and Half Life 2 is still open to suggestions as to the make.
Making a name for itself as one of Toshiba’s most notable gaming laptops is the Satellite P105, most recently winning acclaim from nokhathai in her blog Up date your life. Describing how the P105 ‘packs powerful desktop functionality into a thinner, lighter, good value notebook‘, nokhathai not only lists the important specifications but picks out the particularly interesting to impress from the start.
With particular mentions going to the 17” widescreen display boasting 1440×900 resolution and TruBrite technology, professional-grade Intel graphic card and built-in harman/kardon speakers, the evidence speaks for itself that this slimline laptop contains all the elements for gaming heaven!
