Toshiba Satellite P300/A300/M300 and U400 laptops build on their solid reputation of quality

Toshiba Satellite U400I like your trade items of TOshiba laptop. I am crazy for TOSIBA [sic]” is the cracking response to the rather interesting summary article about the ‘new processors on Toshiba laptops’ published by Nino on slipperybrick.com, whose tagline suggests they are ‘prolly the awesomest tech site’. So there.

Now, we first mentioned this back on talkToshiba on the 1st July via i4u.com, but it’s always good to get a little further information on exactly how Toshiba are planning to build upon their “solid reputation of quality” with “several innovative features” on their Satellite P300, Satellite A300, Satellite M300 and Satellite U400 (pictured). After all, with the latter of these lighter than the MacBook Air, a number of users have recommended the Satellite – this poster from student forums describing it as “a decent, yet portable screen size/weight, and good battery life…”.

Whatsmore, slipperybrick reliably inform us that at the beginning of the third quarter of 2008, Toshiba will offer a computer trade-in and recycling program for all manufacturer’s PCs to reduce environmental impact and promote efficient utilization of resources. All happy news for those interested in purchasing a Satellite then!

Toshiba upgrade Satellite series with AMD

AMD LogoA thousand kudos, and raised glasses galore to i4u.com, who have brightened the first day of the summery month of July with this rather interesting post from within the Toshiba camp. It seems that “Toshiba has announced that it updated some of its Satellite series notebooks with the new AMD next generation notebook platform”.

“Models receiving upgrades include the P300D, A300D, M300D, U400D, L300D, and L350D” and it looks like it’s good news for all concerned as “the new AMD platforms offer better performance, visuals and battery life compared to previous AMD platforms.

With new features ever round the corner, and happy reviews from almost all concerned, it seems like a good time to become a Toshiba Satellite owner.

Anitpodeans give the Toshiba Satellite Pro M300 a once-over

Toshiba Satellite M300ZDNet Australia have got the lowdown on the Toshiba Satellite Pro M300, with author Michael Palamountain awarding it a solid 7 out of 10, calling it “A modest, yet high quality desktop replacement at a reasonable price”.

Michael praises the M300 for being “classy”, mentioning that its silver and black finish makes it “a fine looking machine”. He’s also impressed by the speakers, mentioning that although they are tiny, they have “very good sound quality”. Though Michael is impressed with the weight of the M300, he does have some reservations about the “shiny screen” which sometimes gets affected by sunlight, though this is obviously not limited to Toshiba laptops.

After a rundown of the software and specs that come with the M300, Michael concludes that “the test results all indicate great performance in terms of office productivity”, but the graphics may not be quite up to standard for dedicated gamers, though it’s just fine for watching a DVD on. Hard drive and general processor performance come in for praise, and the idea of exchanging the 6-cell battery for a longer lasting 9-cell gets the thumbs up. For the whole picture, head over to ZDNet Australia.

Portege ‘effortlessly blends power and mobility’

For the business person on the move, the Portege M300 is the perfect choice according to What Laptop, ‘effortlessly blending power and mobility’.

Measuring 286 x 230 x 35mm and weighing just 1.7kg, as well as using an ultra-Low Voltage processor that ensures that heat output is kept to a minimum; the M300 is a leader in portability stakes. If this isn’t enough to tempt anyone then Toshiba have the fact that Toshiba have wrapped this tempting package, together with all the hi-tech programmes you could want, into a specially strengthened case that ensures this is one long-lasting notebook.

Someone who could benefit from all the M300 has to offer is bmnotpls who needs a laptop to take everywhere for work. He’ll use it for for coding and testing, and has asked Notebook forums for help. Durability is a must and the What Laptop review suggests that the M300 is definitely up to the job and would be a great option for bmnotpls to consider.
