Whilst this isn’t the most recent write up of Toshiba’s Qosmio G45, Rory Reid brings us some great pictures of the pertinent aspects of the machine. There are some good close up shots of the controls and the speakers that give you an idea of the quality and also the size of the machine.

Alongside the pictures is a mini review, from which the Qosmio comes out very well. Rory says that Toshiba have done ‘a very good job from an aesthetic point of view’, with the glossy black lid and the shiny white veneer on the inside being helped by the ‘gallons of blue LED lighting’. The Harmon Kardon hardware gets the thumbs up, with the five separate speakers coming out ‘louder than your Dad’s IBM’.

The Qosmio G45-AV690 has got a double thumbs-up, four star review from those well-respected chaps over at Laptop Mag. Jeffery Wilson goes as far as to say that the G45 is ‘one of the best multimedia notebooks around’. He waxes lyrical about every aspect of the mighty machine, from the design through the AV capabilities, to the processors.

He reckons Toshiba have made ‘an already excellent notebook better’ by including the Penryn processor, improving both performance and battery life. And what more could a user ask for than the best available?

The immersive media experience is enhanced by the whopping 17-incher and the Harmon Kardon speakers, which delivers a ‘brilliant’ performance (even if they did use a U2 DVD). Touches like the illuminated multimedia buttons and the chrome-plated volume wheel were added bonuses. The ‘reservation is that HD DVD has lost the format war’ and there is no way to order a unit without one.

Performance-wise, it outscored its predecessor in the Toshiba range and was second only to a Gateway model. The battery lasted almost 3 ½ hours on a full charge, and the graphics card could handle all but the most demanding games.

All in all, it’s fair to say that Jeffery was mightily impressed, and adds his weight to the already mighty impetus of people in the blogosphere championing the Qosmio range. Hurrah!

Il pèse 5.5 Kg et tourne sous Windows Vista Intégrale.

L’écran affiche de belles images, le son est de très bonne qualité, la frappe au clavier est agréable, les touchpad et lecteur d’empreintes sont bien positionnés, la présence du graveur HD-DVD est appréciable, les performances générales et sans-fil sont correctes. Il obtient la note de 4/5.

Nous venons de tester le Toshiba Satellite A200-1SV qui embarque un processeur Core 2 Duo T5250 (1.5 GHz), 2 Go DDR2 667 MHz, un disque dur SATA de 250 Go, une carte graphique Radeon Mobility HD2600 256 Mo, un écran 15.4’’ WXGA TruBrite d’une résolution de 1280×800, un combo lecteur HD-DVD/graveur DVD double couche, une webcam, un lecteur de cartes 5 en 1 et des connectiques Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, HDMI, Bluetooth, Firewire, VGA, Ethernet et USB 2.0 (x4).
