Am Freitag wurde von Techfacts.net  einen neuen Service von Toshiba vorgestellt:

Wem das eigene Notebook zu langweilig erscheint, weil die Rückseite nur grau lackiert wurde, der kann den neuen Toshiba Service nutzen. Auf einer speziell eingerichteten Homepage kann sich jeder Kunde sein individuelles Skin, also eine Schmuckfolie, zusenden lassen.

Das Ganze ist zwar nicht wirklich so neu, da schon im Juli 2007 davon berichtet wurde. Trotzdem finde ich super, dass der Service mal wieder im Gespräch ist. Denn das Angebot für 20 bis 30€ seinen Laptop einen komplett eigenes Design zu verpassen ist eigentlich echt genial.

Für Toshiba Notebooks gibt es natürlich die Folie in perfekter Passform für viele Modelle, aber auch Standardgrößen für andere Marken sind auswählbar.

Toshiba style may be timeless, but in these days where strong individuality is key amongst almost everyone, increased customisation of one’s laptop is becoming second nature. From desktop backgrounds of favoured sports teams, models or friends – to themes, aggregated home pages and more, one way is simply not enough. And it is unsurprising that some

particularly dedicated individuals have taken the time to customise their Toshiba laptops in some breathtaking style!

Just look at what happened to Jeff’s Tecra M5 when he combined “a great graphic, a great offering, and a little adhesive”.

Or perhaps you prefer chicgeek’s starry Toshiba Satellite A100, with this deep blue design in aquamarine.

MyTego meanwhile has created this rather magnificent skin, taking something of an acid-house theme with neon blue/yellow heads on his Toshiba A-100.

With the rather exciting Toshiba Satellite limited designs (sadly restricted to being released in France only) being launched at the Take a Closer Look Event in Paris recently, with designs provided by some impressive names - Agnes B, Superkitsch and Ajun Park – we got to wondering, what would you put on your laptop if you had the choice?

Depending on the price and ease of use of these skins, perhaps it would be a hip band, the latest film (The irrepressible Doctor Jones maybe as our quick artists rendition suggests) – or maybe a classic retro Star Wars look perhaps? Or would you rather pay the extra to obtain a customised photo of a loved one, favoured pet or obscure cultural icon? Either way, the general consensus seems to be that with laptop design set to become more and more customisable over the next few years, things could be certainly heading in this direction.

But are skins really enough, and will those of us who really embrace the potential of making ones laptop their own, will nothing short of intricate engraving, or insisting on shop floor customisation, provide the answer. After all, as potentially one of the most expensive, and well-used consumer product one purchases in a year, plain laptop covers may soon not be enough.

Toshiba propose, en partenariat avec Coovz.com, un service de customisation sur son site internet. Le constructeur japonais lance une gamme de « skins » pour ordinateurs portables. Ce sont ni plus ni moins que des autocollants à poser sur la coque de son laptop Toshiba. Ils ont néanmoins la propriété de protéger des rayures et sont amovibles. Si les choix de motifs proposés sur le site ne vous plaisent pas, vous aurez toujours l’opportunité de les personnaliser. Ce service coûte entre 20 et 30 €.

Toshiba propose, en partenariat avec le Britannique Lapjacks, des skins pour personnaliser votre portable. Les skins proposés sont conçus en vinyle. Ils se collent facilement sur le portable et peuvent se retirer tout aussi aisément, sans laisser de trace de colle ou autre. On en a pour tous les goûts.

On peut choisir le modèle Toshiba que l’on possède pour obtenir la bonne taille ou bien entrer les mesures de son ordinateur si on possède un portable d’une autre marque.

Lapjacks offre également la possibilité de personnalisé la skin du portable en uploadant une image personnelle.

Les skins préconçues coûtent 14.99 £ (22 euros) et les skins personnalisées 29.99 £ (44 euros).
