Video guide to installing RAM memory into a Toshiba Portégé R500 laptop

It’s rare that you can get me off my laptop these days being as it is pretty much the hub of everything work-related, creative and social I’m involved with. But when it comes to meddling with the insides of notebooks, or even desktops for that matter, I’m a lot more cautious.

Well – for those of you whore are a little more adventurous, I found a rather useful video tutorial on YouTube today, which offers some sage advice for anyone looking to fit a little bit more RAM inside their Toshiba. Handy… But don’t come back to me if it all goes wrong mind. It may well invalidate the warranty so do make sure to check before you get busy with the screwdriver!

Come with us to Indonesia to see a Toshiba inspired clip

Although this blog deal with issues centred around the UK and wider European territories, every now and then we enjoy whisking you to another part of the globe - to see how our Toshiba brederen are getting on elsewhere. Today is a case in point.

After browsing YouTube this morning, I was delighted to find this video from helloicha - which takes Toshiba, and basically splashes a whole myriad of colour, shapes and even the odd Killer Whale(?) around it.

It’s from Indonesia, and looks lovely. Observe below…

Stuart Waterman rocks the Toshiba X200 laptop

satellitex200.jpgIt may not be the most portable of laptops, but Stuart Waterman’s review of the Toshiba X200, which he crafted exquisitely after we sent him a notebook to trial, has proved a very interesting look at the media capabilities of the device.

A keen purveyor of music, mixing (well his housemate is at least) and videos, Stuart was keen to extol the virtues of its sonic capabilities, suggesting “the sound is great, and many a post-pub night were spent drunkenly playing hip-hop videos on YouTube with the volume cranked up”. He didn’t get around to watching movies with it but was nonetheless claimed “It’s similarly impressive when you watch longer video content”.

It’s good news for those who like to spread their musical creativity too, and Stuart reports that his “flatmate, a DJ, used it to create a new mix and was impressed with how easily it handled the process.” OK, so the touchpad was “gimmicky to the point of irritation”, but in conclusion he seemed very happy with the laptop: All-round a pleasing experience, then - I’ll miss the X200 for the post-pub YouTube forays if nothing else. Maybe de-gimmickify the mouse pad, though.”

msJeanJOiNSwoot crafts a music video on her Toshiba Laptop

Looking for a novel way to use your Toshiba of a rainy afternoon? Well, we’re pretty convinced that msJeanJOiNSwoot has found a cracking idea. Aspiring guitarist and novice video editor extraordinaire, she has entered a competition with a company called guitarrig, and recorded one of her songs – and crafted a real rather super video for it.

OK, so we’re not sure about the monotone robot on vocals – but the guitar-work is spot-on and the visuals she has created with her Guitar Rig 3 software on Toshiba laptop Intel dual core with Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 operating system are simply great.

An inspiring piece of creativity for a damp Wednesday afternoon…. Cracking stuff msJeanJOiNSwoot! Have you done better? Do let us know…

Toshiba Netbook NB105 captured on video - live in the wild!

Since the official announcement yesterday, it seems that news of the Toshiba netbook has been flowing out to all sorts of websites, and even The Guardian are getting involved. ”Toshiba, while not first out of the blocks, could be a player in the netbook market against the Asus Eee PC and similar machines” they say, and Engadget confirm “The NB100 will be offered in three colors, Cosmic Black, Champagne Gold, and Bright Silver” - although they are less than complimentary about the device itself.

However, most excitingly of all - Nilay at Engadget has uncovered this video of the Netbook. It has no sound, and is far from absolute professional quality, but have a look and see what you think…

Unboxing the Toshiba Qosmio F50 laptop - with Max Black 21

Everyone’s excited when they get a brand new laptop, especially when it’s quite so powerful as the Toshiba Qosmio F50! And MaxBlack21 over on YouTube has treated us to a rather comprehensive unboxing film, where he guides us round everything the F50 has to offer. At the moment it’s all hardware, as he’s resisted the urge to plug the beast in just yet, but he promises updates packed with gaming footage so we can see if the notebooks performance matches up to its shininess.

Take a look below for his film, or pop over to YouTube and leave a comment…

The Toshiba Satellite A300 laptop captured in all its YouTube glory

Isn’t it strange when you don’t quite realise the beauty of something until it’s lain out in front of you, and the latest video from ‘HellasAthens1’ of the Toshiba Satellite A300 does just that!

Accompanied with an undoubtedly (ahem…) bangin’ soundtrack, this YouTube user seeks out all the prettiest angles, and delights in capturing the shiny notebook at its very best. Snapping from every angle you can think of, and packing the video with full spec, he kicks off the video by announcing “Is it enough to say TOSHIBA SATELLITE series?”

With camerawork like that, we think it probably is Hellas… Why not take a look for yourself?
