Das ist doch schön wenn mal alles klappt, oder? So ist es Horst gegangen, er hat Ubuntu 8.04 auf seinem Toshiba Satellite S 5200-801 installiert und es ging schnell, proplemlos und einfach.

Er selbst war vorher, wie er sagt ein “absolut blutiger Linux Laien der einfach nichtmehr doof ins Fenster glotzen wollte” und scheint jetzt ein begeisterter Linux User zu sein. Seine ganze Story findet ihr hier.

Das ganz ist auch noch top aktuell, da es bald das neuen Toshiba Netbook NB-100 gibt, was standardmässig mit Linux ausgeliefert wird und laut winfuture.de handelt es sich dabei um Ubuntu.
Also vielleicht lohnt sich schon mal ein Blick in die Ubuntu-Welt !

Bei der Austattung hat Eeepcnews.de größenteils recht behalten, nur beim Namen hat sich was geändert.

Anyone been at the IFA this week? No, nor I sadly – but happily for talkToshiba we have sent one of our more intrepid bloggers by the name of Tom to the event, to take a look about and see what he could see. Which was an awful lot by all accounts!

Describing the event as ‘absolutely – just absolutely huge’, we could have asked him to provide a run down of everything he had seen and been impressed by… But his fingers would have no doubt fallen off, so I thought I’d just note a few of his, and others highlights – and direct to you to his flickr pictures of the event.

Lifeatmost.com were particularly impressed with the Toshiba Qosmio X300, and have taken some pretty pictures of the powerful gaming machine, while techvideoblog have decided that the Toshiba R500 is still the one for them, saying that the “this business high end Toshiba Laptop has been out for over a year, but it’s still cool to check out”.

“Toshiba’s SD Multi Tool and SD Photo Editor are a nice, touchable surprise” say gizmohacker.com – but one of my favourite photos I’ve seen is the one below of a dismantle Toshiba Portégé R500 taken by our very own Tom. Das Toshiba P300-1AO, viele haben es danke des MediaMarkt Angebots und viele reden drüber. Das Missverständnis mit dem Tastaturlayout konnten wir ja aufklären, aber es gibt schon die nächste Frage:

Topextop vom notebookforum.at, der sich das Notebook gekauft hat und gleich mit dem mitgelieferten Treibern auf XP umgestellt hat. “Soweit läuft alles Perfekt, nur die Beleuchtung am Lappi selber kann man nicht deaktivieren, habe Toshiba Control aufgespielt, und versucht dort dieses zu aktivieren, macht der aber nicht.”

Alle Notebooks haben Windows VistaBusiness Edition vorinstalliert, aber es gibt ebenso Windows XP Professional dazu.

Laptops werden immer leichter und kleiner, das ist schön wenn man unterwegs ist aber meist nicht mehr so praktisch wenn man anderen etwas zeigen will. Natürlich gibt es auch große Notebooks wie das neue Toshiba G50 mit 18,4″ Display, aber nix geht über einen Beamer.

Die passen sich auch immer mehr den Notebooks an, werden kleiner, leichter, leiser, leistungsfähiger und schicker. Der neue xp2 macht da keine Ausnahme: 270 x 98 x 198 mm, 2,2 kg, 34 dB, 2.500 ANSI-Lumen, 2.000:1 Kontrastverhältnis und ob er schick ist schaut selbst:

Laut tomshardware.com soll er ab 650€ zuhaben sein (die Ersatzbirne ab 240€). Die UVP liegt bei 590€ zzgl. MwSt, also 703€, auch wenn auf vielen Seiten von 940€ die Rede ist, sind das die offiziellen Angaben von der Toshiba Website.

Ein guten Tipp gibt es noch (für alle die es nicht so eilig haben) von golem.de:

“Der Projektor soll ab Herbst einen LAN-Adapter als Zubehör integriert haben, mit dem er direkt ans Netzwerk angeschlossen und von dort aus gesteuert werden kann.”

pulse wendet sich ratsuchend an das notebookforum.at. Er besitzt einen Toshiba Satellite, auf diesem hat er jetzt BS Windows XP installiert (vorher Windows Vista). Das einzige was jetzt noch fehlt ist eine WLAN-Verbimdung, aber dies will leider nicht so richtig funktionieren…

HansiBH wendet sich an das notebookforum.at. Er besitzt einen Toshiba Satellite P10 und dieser fährt nach dem einschalten kurz hoch und wieder runter, danach startet er wieder automatisch und bootet dann nach dem 10mal Windows XP. Faamugol de commentcamarche a acheté un Toshiba Satellite L40 17 S avec windows vista qui ne fonctionne pas bien.
Il aimerait le remplacer par XP, mais au début de l’installation il lui dit qu’une erreur Windows s’est produite et il doit éteindre le pc portable.

Il n’arrive pas à continuer.Une astuce pour lui ?
