Laptop PC have recently reviewed the Toshiba Equium A200-26D, and you’d be hard pressed to find a more positive review. They’re of the opinion that in this day and age, a laptop is essential and the A200 “will help you enjoy the work you do” whether it’s business or pleasure.
One of the many points picked out by LPC is the “excellent storage capacity”, as well as the “high quality display” which is a “characteristic feature of Toshiba Equium A200-26D Laptop PC”. The TruBrite WXGA TFT display of 16.7 million colours ensures “life-like images”, meaning “your charts, graphics and images will be as clear as the original.” As well as reporting on more tech specs than you can shake a stick at, LPC reckon the lithium ion battery gives “good” battery life.
Concluding that “apart from all the advantages and outstanding performance, [the] Equium A200-26D is the best in its stylish but executive look”, you can head over to Laptop PC for the full review.
Over at Laptop 4 Ever, CEH has posted a review of the Toshiba Equium L40-17M, suggesting that if you’re looking for a reasonably priced notebook it “makes a decent compromise between features, price and working capabilities”.
Though CEH thinks the design is “basic rather than modish”, he likes the “good-sized keys for ease of typing” and finds the overall layout to be “sagacious”. Due to the sub-£500 price, CEH realizes that it won’t contain the highest tech specs, but reckons the L40-17M “makes the highest of what it’s stuffed up with” with its duel-core Pentium chip, 2GB of RAM and 15.4 inch display which “offers a bountiful space to work on and it has a nearly customary widescreen resolution of 1,280×800 pixels”.
Though CEH thinks the battery life could be improved, he finds the Equium L40-17M to be “capable of most jobs you put it through” and will “get the job done”. Head over to Laptop 4 Ever for the full review.
“I love it” is the resounding conclusion of the Toshiba Equium delivered on YouTube by 1234BlueBoy, albeit just a small clip of his 19 minute long, 2 part comparison of the Equium and his pal’s MacBook Air.
Focussing heavily on what he sees as a very reasonable pricepoint of the device, and all the features packed in to his Equium, it’s fair to say that he rates this notebook very highly. Take a look at the video below, and then follow this link for part 2 of his comparative review.
So it’s a big ol’ thumbs up, and 9 out of 10 for the Toshiba Equium laptop over on reviewstream.com, with reviewer Ellen seemingly delighted at almost every feature. Not only liberated by the arrival of a notebook into her home happily suggesting that “buying this laptop was like being given a new lease of life”, she was delighted by the lack of pre-installed programmes, and most notably the price that this led to. “When I found this laptop for just over £300 I could not believe my luck - as what I have paid for is a top quality laptop with the basic requirements installed, plus a free battery.”
Indeed, the machine has no problem with her specific needs for photography, movie-making, internet usage, letter-writing and wireless printing… and boasts a ‘comfortable keyboard’ along with audio and visual quality that is “superb”. Nice work – and talk of Toshiba online was rather glowing too (yes, I know it’s not talktoshiba.com, but I guess we can’t have everything) with Ellen suggesting that although she realizes it “is a sales pitch” it was still good “to be able to look and see what is recommended should I wish to add anything to my lap top.”
Looking for a combination of light, portable and cheap is a pretty difficult task, but thats exactly what Gail is after and, to help her with her search she has enlisted bookxo.com forum members.
Other than being light for consistant transporting and cheap, her only other specification is that she needs something with firewire, leaves her fairly open to suggestion.
Someone who seems to feel they have found an ‘excellent’ solution to the age-old light but cheap problem is Puzzle121, who has written a review of his feelings on the Equium A100 for viewers of ciao.co.uk. Giving it 4 stars, an evaluation that it has a ‘good sound, nice looks, battery life, running speed’ and the title ‘excellent for a budget computer’, one can’t escape the feeling that Puzzle121 is more than content with his find! He goes on to produce an easy to follow account of his findings of the A100, written in a language even the least technically indined people can understand. Feeling that it is particularly good for work, but has a decent graphics card that leaves it open to gaming possibilties, this lightweight, 15″ screen laptop with firewire, Wi-Fi, 1GB of RAM and a suprisingly low pricetag could well satisfy Gail’s needs!
A recent review on popular review site cheaplaptops.org has highly recommended the Toshiba Equium A100 and described the notebook as being an impressive multimedia laptop with a reasonable price tag!
As well as having WiFi and Vista, it boasts a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor which is ‘very smooth and quiet.’ All that said, possibly the best indication of its calibre is the fact the reviewer was so impressed he now uses it all the time!To view the full review click here.
The laptop has also been recommended by Scoobybeth on the South West Scoobies forum in reply to Russ WRX who has asked for advice regarding a new laptop. Stating his requirements as being a decent laptop on a budget with WiFi and capacity for lots of photos, the Toshiba Equium A100 certainly sounds like what Russ WRX needs.
