Ah Friday! Mythical day of the week, and the ideal opportunity for workers across the world to dust down their wallets, and prepare for an evening of socialising with chums!
But with still an hour or two to go, till the office has fully wound down – then why not pop over to one of the best websites in town, gaj-it.com – who are offering free stuff galore. You see, to help celebrate the launch of Toshiba’s new help forum for laptops called,‘Answers from Laptop Experts’, they are teaming up with the generous folk at M80, to giveaway 5 x 2GB MP3 Players.
And not only is the forum an excellent place to get a whole heap of answers for any problems you may have, but to win one of their shiny new MP3 players – all you have to do is leave a comment in the comment box here before Friday October 17th…
And as Ben tips – “humour, interesting facts or even some good old fashioned flattery about Gaj-IT or Toshiba could help your case”. So go win!

Every now and then one receives an email which sheds a ray of light so shimmery upon a previously mysterious situation, that one wonders why said light has not been shimmered before. Just such a thing has happened today, and it’s kudos to our good pal Jean-Baptiste at catswhocode.com – who has written up a virtually foolproof method of just how to install Ubuntu Hardy Heron on a Toshiba l40-10O.
We’ve noted feedback from several of our trialists who suggest that although the software bundles that come with the Toshiba computers are very well-received, not every user loves Microsoft Vista. For those chaps, this article, which answers those awkward questions you may be afraid to ask, will help offer a new dimension to what you can do with your l40-10O.
So for more info (and step by step by very intricate step instructions), be sure to pop over to catswhocode.

Eric I Arnoth quite likes his new Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 but nothing in life is perfect and he’s written an article on his blog describing a problem he’s been having with with the notebook.
Eric’s dualbooted his new notebook with Ubuntu and Windows and has found the installation and setup process relatively painless. Unfortunately, 30 days after purchase, the LCD backlight malfunctioned. Eric had no problems obtaining a replacement but now the new machine seems to be exhibiting similar symptoms (screen flicker when the lid is opened) to the original just before the LCD problem occured.
Eric is now beginning to wonder if this is a flaw of the model so we have been searching for evidence of this. It seems unlikely, but Eric is unlikely to be reassured until the screen flicker (which only occurs in Windows) is explained . If you can explain the flicker or can throw any light on its cause, follow this link to view the full article.

E voila quelques pistes!!
