Student SOS for superb Satellite sale?

Five days ago R_L_S of The Student Room pleaded for assistance from his fellow board members over a choice of new Toshiba laptop. Unfortunately, the response hasn’t been too great and I was hoping readers of this site could be more helpful!

After three years of good service, R_L_S’s current laptop is feeling a bit worse for wear and it looks as though an upgrade is needed. As R_L_S says: “I’m off to Uni so will basically just be using it for the usual MS office malarkey, internet, the odd game and to play music…and DVDs.”

The temptation is the Satellite L300-11C which is being sold at R_L_S’s local shop for a bargain price of £350. As the stricken student shouts their SOS is there anyone reading this who can offer any advice?

Satellite ideal for students

Whilst this reviewer from SpeedSTUG Tablet Tips won’t ever get a job hosting his own primetime chat show, he certainly gives a complete rundown of the capabilities and specs of the Toshiba Satellite R25.

Stephen is a fan of the 14.1” screen, and the ability to flip into tablet mode for taking notes in lectures, making this ‘an ideal mid-range laptop for students’. The specs are up to scratch too, with the 1.66 GhZ dual core Pentium core 2 duo handling all Stephen’s needs. He’s upgraded to 2GB RAM, so has no problems multi-tasking with a number of high-memory applications.

He says he would ‘highly recommend it’, and if the Student Tablet User Group of the Speed School Student Council likes it, then that’s good enough for me.
